Two Alpha Collective members have worked together to create AdoramaTV’s latest series, “My Travel Diary: Kenya.” Produced by Sal D’alia (@timbuz) and featuring Erin Sullivan (@erinoutdoors), the series explores the topic of ethical photography when traveling to different cultures. The series travels to Kenya to work with Ubuntu Life, a nonprofit with the mission to create social impact for moms and kids in Kenya.
New YouTube series with @ErinOutdoors explores Kenya and ethics in travel photography. “I hope the series encourages travelers to listen more and center themselves less I hope people don’t just make their goal ‘doing good,’ but challenge themselves to do better instead — myself included.”
“Combining storytelling, nonprofit work, cultural interest, and making good for change, it’s everything a filmmaker looks forward to,” says D’Alia. “Every country has its own subject and mood — a different soul — and this show gives a look at what a photographer can encounter in these locations.”
Sal and Erin want photographers to realize that having a camera in these cultures creates a power dynamic, and it’s something you have to acknowledge and operate with respect.
“I hope the series encourages travelers to listen more and center themselves less,” Sullivan says. “I hope people don’t just make their goal ‘doing good,’ but challenge themselves to do better instead — myself included.”
