Alongside the announcement of the new Sony Alpha 7 IV camera, Sony also released two new flashes – the HVL-F60RM2 and HVL-F46RM. Below we take a closer look at the flashes’ features and how, when paired with a Sony Alpha camera, they allow you to reap the benefits of the complete Alpha Lighting System.
Upgraded Continuous Shooting Flash Performance
Both flashes have upgraded continuous shooting flash performance so you can keep creating without worry of waiting for the light. The HVL-F60RM2 can shoot up to 200 consecutive flashes at 10 frames per second and for the HVL-F46RM, 60 times.
Optimized Flash Algorithm
The optimized flash algorithm ensures both flashes won’t overheat, and a set of four Ni-MH batteries can power up to 240 flashes with a 1.7-second recycle time for the HVL-F60RM2 and up to 320 flashes with a 2-second recycle time for the HVL-F46RM13. You have all the power you need to ensure you can keep shooting efficiently.
When Used In Combination With Alpha Cameras
The Alpha Lighting System sets a new standard for mirrorless camera lighting systems, and when you use one of these flashes with your Alpha camera, you’ll get to reap the benefits of that system. Paired with Alpha cameras, the flashes can achieve phenomenal continuous shooting speeds. Both flashes’ parameters can be controlled directly from your Sony Alpha camera and your flash control will also be linked to camera face detection. The flashes will also send color temperature information to the camera, which it will use to automatically correct the white balance. The benefits of the complete Alpha Lighting System are many.
