Rock formations, red sand, cacti and hot temperatures…we’re ready to pack up our cars with camera gear and take a road trip to the desert! With such classic elements, it can be tricky to create new or interesting desert images, but this week we are featuring Sony photographers who have done just that. From unique angles, to fresh compositions, to great light – these photographers have taken the classic desert scene and put their own twist on it. Take a look at their work below and check them out on Instagram. Make sure you tag your Sony photography posts with #BeAlpha. Gina Danza – @wildgina
Gina Danza is a nature photographer, visual storyteller and member of the Alpha Collective. She uses her images to connect to the emotional and intimate side of nature, using that to bond with her viewers as well. We love this image and the bold colors we often associate with sunsets. She took this photo with the Sony Alpha 7R IV and the Sony 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6. Follow her Instagram account for more nature content in your feed with captions that make you think about your relationship with all things outdoors.
Jess Santos – @missjessbess
Alpha Collective member Jess Santos specializes in astrophotography. Her Instagram feed is full of stunning night photographers that feel otherworldly. And nothing is more otherworldly than the desert! We love how she described the image below in her caption stating “I often find that looking up at the trees changes the perspective in such a unique way. These two looked like they were dancing under the Milky Way.” The image below is actually a composite of two images. She took both images with the Sony Alpha 7R IV and the Sony 12-24mm f/2.8 G Master lens. The trees were photographed at 12mm, f/11, ISO 100, and a 30-second exposure. The sky was photographed at f/2.8, ISO 6400 and a 15-second exposure. Follow Santos on Instagram for more breathtaking astro images and check out her go to gear HERE.

He also travels all over to document some of the most stunning scenes nature has to offer and shares it with his audience via Instagram. We love the color pallet of the three images below, that along with the scenery gives classic desert vibes. Herschel’s kit is perfect for landscape, travel and astro photographers. Take a look inside his bag HERE and don’t forget to give him a follow on Instagram!
Stan Moniz – @stanmoniz
Stan Moniz is a cinematographer, time-lapser, storyteller, and member of the Alpha Collective. His Instagram feed is full of seascapes, nightscapes, and other breathtaking images that will have you ready to pack a bag and head out on your next adventure. We love the image below that Moniz took on a trip to Joshua Tree. He captured this frame with his Sony Alpha 7 IV and the Sony 35mm f/1.4 G Master. See how he uses Sony Alpha cameras, prime & zoom lenses and a few key accessories to photograph the night sky HERE.
Sapna Reddy – @sapnareddy
Sapna Reddy is a landscape photographer based in Northern California. The Alpha Collective member is currently pursuing dual careers as a photographer and a physician. She recently took a trip to Sedona, Arizona and took some outstanding images, like the one below. We love seeing both photos in this post and reading Reddy’s caption because it really exemplifies how the weather and conditions can impact images and visual storytelling. Both images are from roughly the same location, but as Reddy mentions in the caption, the reflection caused the story to change and that also changed the settings and focal length she used to capture that story. The first image was taken with the Sony Alpha 7R IV with the Sony 16-35mm f/2.8 G Master at 16mm f/16, ISO 320 and 2.5-sec. The second image was taken with the Sony Alpha 7R IV and the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master at 27mm, f/22, ISO 250 and 10-sec.
Larry Gee – @roaminglarry
Larry Gee is an outdoor and travel photographer based in the Washington, D.C. area. Although he is based in D.C, his Instagram feed boasts images from all over the world. He utilizes clean compositions and sweeping landscapes to tell the stories of the places he visits. Those techniques can be seen in the image below taken in Sedona, Arizona. His favorite lens is the Sony 85mm f/1.4 G Master. Be fure to check out his Instagram page and drop him a follow!
Galena Staroselsky – @photogalena_
Galena Staroselsky is a landscape and adventure photographer based in Gunnison, Colorado. She works full-time as a Lead OSP Design Engineer and spends most of her free time traveling to the mountains, oceans and deserts to camp, hike and capture landscapes. We love the bold composition of the image below. How the leading line takes the viewers eye directly to the rock, standing tall. Then, the viewer's eye moves to the light from the right side of the frame and takes in the pastel color clouds. Check out more of Staroselsky’s work on her Instagram page!
Egidijus Pudžiuvelis – @egidijus17_

With his Sony Alpha 7R III in hand, Pudžiuvelis loves taking his motorcycle on adventures and sharing the images on his Instagram account.
