We are excited to announce the Heart and Soul Design Center (HAS Center) as the latest winner of a Sony Create Action grant. The South Central Los Angeles-based non-profit uses multimedia and other programming to create a platform to promote education, training, exposure, social advancements and opportunities. As a winner of the grant, the organization will receive $50,000 in cash to continue and expand their work, a custom short film telling their story, $50,000 in Sony Electronics products to support their action plan, and collaboration and partnership with Sony.

HAS Center’s objective is to provide underserved communities with affordable quality production services, create employment opportunities and introduce them to the world of innovative digital technology. The Center’s coaches assist students in creating video/film, digital photography and graphics that not only make a difference, but provide a unique and productive medium in which they can express themselves.
HAS Center brings state of the art technology to students and the community while also creating a new generation of coaches and teachers, who learn the value of interacting with the youth, teaching them new skills with hands-on experience, and opening doors to new possibilities. Their services are all crafted with the intention of providing job skills, life-long learning skills, and an overall support network to increase self-confidence.

The Create Action Grant Program is open through March 29, 2022, and will provide grants to 10 organizations total, with one new grant awarded each month.
