Highlighting the lens' sharpness, fast and reliable AF ability, bokeh and build quality, PhotographyBlog has given the lens 4.5 stars and highly recommends it as a telephoto zoom lens.

With the lens on the Sony α7R II, "It delivers outstanding sharpness in the centre of the frame almost throughout its entire aperture and zoom range, also performing very well wide-open at f/2.8."
