Every photographer needs a steady and reliable workflow. Not only does it help you to produce consistent quality images, it also keeps them organized and backed up until they are ready to be delivered to the client. With many of the same advanced technologies found in Sony Alpha mirrorless cameras, Sony Xperia devices have become useful tools for many photographer's workflows. Landscape, travel and wildlife photographer Colby Brown uses the most recent Sony Xperia device as part of his photography tool kit. In this video, watch as he explains how Xperia has become an essential part of his workflow and how it complements his overall Sony Alpha system.
Photographer Colby Brown explains how Xperia has become an essential part of his workflow and how it complements his overall Sony Alpha system.
Capturing Photos & Videos
Brown mentions that the starting point of any good workflow begins with using the right camera gear to get the job done. The Sony Artisan likes to use the Sony Alpha 1 for his landscapes, travel and wildlife photography. "I usually pair it with the Sony Xperia smartphone," he says. "Why? Not only has most of that same technology trickled into the Xperia line of camera phones, but they use a similar color science as the Alpha camera lineup. And I am also able to use the latest Xperia phone as an external monitor when I'm out there in the field, which is a feature I have actually been hoping for for years."
Post-Processing & Transferring Files
Brown often uses a mixture of Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Capture One with most of his images, along with some third-party softwares such as Topaz's de-noise. "Now if I'm in a hurry to deliver an image to client while traveling," he explains, "I will wireless send the RAW image from my Alpha 1 to an Xperia phone using Sony's Imaging Edge Software and process it using the Lightroom Mobile app. The displays on Sony's latest Xperia phones are incredibly color-accurate and Lightroom Mobile gives me enough power and flexibility to do a quick edit and deliver professional results in just a few minutes."
Sharing On Social Media
Once Brown has his images fully edited, he gets them ready to send out on social media platforms. "Once an image is processed on either one of my computers, I have a number of options to pick and choose from. I could easily plug in my phone and manually pull the files over. I could simply Bluetooth the images over using the Xperia device. Or I could use any number of online solutions such as Dropbox or Google Drive." He likes to use the Lightroom Mobile app to pull images off the cloud and instantly share on his social media platforms.
"The key is that I always have access to all my processed and finalized images, no matter where I am in the world."
