Photographer Joe Tavares (@joe.t.2019) has photographed everything from eagles in Japan to lions in Africa. He recently paired the new Sony Alpha 9 III with the Sony 300mm f/2.8 G Master for bird and wildlife photography, and in this video, he shares the three that features that stood out the most to him:

1. Subject Recognition

The first feature Tavares notes that stood out to him is subject recognition. "The autofocus of this camera is truly impressive. It locked focus on the eyes of this woodpecker flying directly at me. Even the eyes of these tiny hummingbirds are tack sharp." 

2. World's First Global Shutter

It's not surprising that the next stand-out feature Tavares found using the Sony Alpha 9 III with the Sony 300mm f/2.8 G Master for his wildlife photography is the Sony Alpha 9 III's  global shutter. "The Alpha 9 III can shoot up to 100fps with no blackout. I can now capture every movement, every wing position, as is this case with this herring gull trying to pull a large fish out of water."

3. Pre-Capture

The third game-changing feature Tavares is the Sony Alpha 9 III's Pre-Capture function. "The camera can record up to one second of images before I press the shutter. Now I can get shots I couldn't before, such as the exact moment this gold finch took off."
