The newest member of the Sony FX lineup is a 4K, Super 35 compact cinema camera that brings advanced Cinema Line features to a new group of creators. In the Sony FX30, doc shooters, filmmakers, vloggers and other content creators will have Log shooting modes, Dual Base ISO, user-imported LUTs, 4K/120fps and full HD 240fps. The 20.1 megapixel CMOS sensor FX30 has a Sony E-mount to give filmmakers access to the full Sony lens lineup. It will be available in October and the price point is $1800 USD.
At the core of the FX30 is the 20.1 megapixel APS-C Exmor R™ sensor. This Super 35 format sensor has 14 stops of latitude as well as a dual base ISO (800/2500). As part of the Sony Cinema Line (along with cameras like the FX9, FX6 and FX3), the FX30 has Log shooting modes and built in cinematic looks including S-Cinetone.

- Dual memory card slots compatible with CFexpress Type A cards (including the newly announced large capacity CFexpress Type A) and SDXC/SDHC cards
The FX30 has a compact, purpose-built design that features a heat dissipation structure and a flat-top design with threaded accessory attachment points. There’s a convenient internal stereo microphone and external microphones can be connected directly to the camera’s Multi Interface Shoe or microphone jack. An accessory handle adds XLR audio inputs and a 3.5mm stereo mini jack enabling 4-channel recording (the XLR handle will be available in a bundle with the FX30 for $2200 USD).
Pricing & Availability Details
The new FX30 (supplied with the XLR handle) will be available in late October for approximately $2,200 USD and $2,900 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony's authorized dealers throughout North America.
The new FX30B, (supplied without the XLR handle) will also be available in late October for approximately $1,800 USD and $ 2,400 CAD. It will be sold at a variety of Sony's authorized dealers throughout North America.
