It’s hard to believe we’re getting ready to wrap up another year in the Sony Alpha Universe! The announcement of the Sony Alpha 7R V in 2022 brought a variety of new features paired with the latest Sony processor technology – creating a camera with the highest image quality in Alpha history. The camera’s new AI processor took subject recognition to unmatched levels, and it’s the second in the Alpha-series that shoots 8K video up to 24FPS as well as 4K 50FPS – making it a solid choice for hybrid shooters. Sony ZV-1F

This year Sony also expanded their vlogging lineup with the new Sony ZV-1F camera. Designed for content creators stepping up to a compact camera, the ZV-1F packs advanced video and still capabilities with easy-to-use features, advanced connectivity and a focus on sustainability. With features like a vari-angle LCD touch screen, a background defocus button, a product showcase setting, smoothing options, Shot Mark and a self timer, content creators of all levels continue to be excited about this one. A new member of the Sony FX lineup was introduced this year: the Sony FX30. This Super 35 compact cinema camera brought advanced Cinema Line features to a new group of creators. It has changed the game by giving documentary shooters, filmmakers, vloggers and other content creators Log shooting modes, Dual Base ISO, user-imported LUTs, 4K/120fps and full HD 240fps. Sony also introduced the new 24-70mm f/2.8 G Master II, the world’s smallest and lightest f/2.8 standard zoom lens. Released six years after the first iteration of the lens, this second version brought an improved and compact yet versatile setup, allowing users to capture extremely sharp, detailed imagery for both stills and video. Announced alongside the previous two wide-angle APS-C lenses was also the Sony 11mm f/1.8. Announced in June of 2022, the Sony ECM-B10 Shotgun Microphone brought a high-quality, affordable, three-in-one super-dimension microphone to the lineup. With three modes, super-directional, unidirectional, and omnidirectional, the microphone serves as a versatile option for filmmakers and vloggers in a variety of situations. Phew, what a year in Sony gear! And that's not everything. Sony also announced the 256GB TOUGH Card this year. Featuring 299MB/s write and 300MB/s read speeds, this latest card is designed to keep up with the latest Sony Alpha cameras and today’s fast-paced photographers, filmmakers and content creators. Other launches include an updated version of their Camera Remote Software Development Kit, a firmware update for the Sony Alpha 7 IV, and another for the Sony Alpha 1 and Sony Alpha 7S III. They released a software update that enables new monitor capabilities in the Xperia PRO and Xperia PRO-I smartphones, another for the Sony FX3 camera and also one for the Airpeak S1.
