Alpha Female+ Micro-Grant Winners
Megan Brief
Theme: Your Creative Style
"Ever since I was a child, I dreamed I could talk to animals. Growing up with autism alienated me in many ways, but I found solace in the natural world. I discovered a true sense of belonging among the weird and wild creatures. The camera became my communication device. I could engage in conversations with animals and capture their voice with compassion. Photography has allowed me to embrace my neurodivergent lens and channel it for conservation."

Sammani Perera
Theme: Golden Hour
"Almost all of my best photos, I have taken during the golden hour. In my experience, this is when one will find nature at its best. I took the first photo below (Swish of a Magic Wand), right at sunrise at Moonscape Overlook, UT, just a few weeks ago."
"But not all golden hours are as spectacular as we want them to be and not all photos taken at other times are bad. I took the second photo below (Canaan of the Mormons) on an overcast day at Capitol Reef National Park during the same trip. It was not during the golden hour, but it was definitely a golden opportunity."

Wren Xie
Theme: Grandscape
"Living in the Bay Area, I feel so lucky to have incredible places like Yosemite so close by. That day, the sky turned extremely cloudy, and we almost decided against hiking up to the cliff. But in the end, we went and just as the sun was setting, it broke through the clouds, casting beautiful rays across the landscape. Moments like this are a reminder that even when the odds don’t seem perfect, it’s always worth taking the chance or we might miss something truly unforgettable."
