Professional photographer, writer and blogger, Thomas Fitzgerald, shows why he uses Capture One software for his photographs taken with Sony cameras. He also goes into detail about some of the settings he uses with Capture One Pro to get the most out of his Sony RAW files. As Fitzgerald puts it, "the defaults are not optimal for getting the best results." He points out that in order to make the most of your files it helps to tweak the Sharpening and Tone Curve.

Based on shooting with his own Sony α6000 and a borrowed Sony α7 II, Fitzgerald suggests several changes from the default settings in the software. In particular he details tweaks to settings under the Color Tab and Details Tab as well as sharpening settings and adjustments to the Lens Correction Parameters and the Structure slider. Fitzgerald makes his default adjustments with the goal of getting more detail from the Sony RAW files. He writes, "there’s not a huge difference here, but these few settings, I think make a big improvement."
